friday favorites

It has been another busy week here! School is dismissed at noon and PTC are scheduled today for both boys! I am struggling for words. I want to capture a piece of our lives here on this blog but there have been no words.

Top five Friday favorites:

1. candy corn: oh why do I love it so much? It gives me such a sugar rush and an almost immediate crash. It gives me a headache, makes me cranky and yet I keep coming back for more!
2. family night: we did this Wednesday night with pumpkin carving and hot apple cider sipping with the boys!

3. Fall fashion: sweaters, scarfs, boots, jackets need I say more? I love it!!

4. friends: I love the IM feature on fb. I was able to chat briefly with a girlfriend yesterday and it felt like old times. Wonderful!

5. funny dreams: my best friend moved to Texas over a year ago. Has it been that long Denise? Anyway, I had a dream a few night ago that they moved to our small town and bought 1000 acres and decided to become farmers. I think I woke up laughing!!

Well, there you have it. My top five. We will be trick-or-treating on the square this weekend! Have a safe Halloween everyone! And save some candy corn for me;)

Not always easy

Sometimes life is easy. There are smiles and kind words thrown your way. There is such an abundance of good cheer that you feel as if your walking on clouds. It's a lightness of heart, a bubble up of laughter and carefree moments of joy. This...this feeling right here is what I want to bottle up. Save for those dark days when I just need a little bit of light.

The heaviness of heart always sneaks up and makes me remember. Oh no, I know this feeling too. It has been with me for so long that I almost welcome it. An enemy in friends clothing. I have to push it away and push hard so that it know I mean business. Weariness of heart and sadness, they don't live here.

Dry the tears that spill out despite my best intentions. It's time to find that bottled up joy. The joy that is my boys laughter. The joy that is great food and conversation with my husband. The joy that is long distance phone calls and emails from friends scattered far, and hugs and open hearts from the women in my life.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118: 24

What do you do when you feel sadness creeping in? Or do you ever feel that way?
