Thanksgiving...and Christmas decorating!

Today will be spent baking...and baking...and more baking, with a little cleaning and decorating thrown in!
The guys are at the storage unit now gathering all of our Christmas decorations. We ALL have the day off today so this was the perfect day for it:)
This is the best day! I just can't stop smiling! I love baking for Thanksgiving! I love decorating for Christmas! All on the same day.

There will be:
pies
stuffing
candied pecans
cranberry relish
sweet potatoes
corn fritters
and
Christmas music
a Christmas movie
Christmas milk (aka egg nog, M started calling it that when he was little and I love it)

This is a perfect joining of two holiday's to make a wonderful family traditions!!

Happy early Thanksgiving everyone!

Thankful

We are buying a journal today. A thanksgiving journal to be exact. It will probably be a regular college ruled note-book from Wal-Mart but we will call it a journal because sometimes it's important to be fancy.

We are going to write in it everyday this month. All of the things that we are thankful for. The big things and the small things. We are going to show gratitude and respect and hold nothing back. We are going to be thought provoking and funny and real.

The boys are going to learn the importance of writing things down to remember. I am going to teach them that Thanksgiving is more than just pie and mashed potatoes (although that is important too).

I can tell already that I will probably learn more from this lesson than they will. In fact, I think that might be the first gift that I catalog in the journal. I'm thankful for my boys who were sent to me by God so that I would learn the true meaning of thanksgiving.
