Fun with Cousins

My sister and her kids are visiting from out of state so all of our spare time has been greedily spent with them. My sister and I are very close; we talk on the phone almost every day. It’s been hard to think about our kids not sharing their childhood with each other. But I have to say, even though the cousins only see each other 2 or 3 times a year when they do see each other it’s like their best friends! I hope it will always be this easy for them.

We will be spending a lot of time on my patio in the evenings. It is still pretty cool here at evening time, so oftentimes we build a fire in our fire pit. My husband has a simple method for starting a fire outdoors with one match. It’s simple (as I mentioned), it’s easy, and it works every time!

Stack logs in your fire pit log cabin style.
Lay twigs and leaves down inside of log cabin.
Get a small handful of dryer lint (which is extremely flammable) and place beside twigs and leaves.

Light with match.
Enjoy!

We will probably enjoy our fire tonight. We are having a birthday party for my sister’s son who will be turning 6 years old! The cousins are all so excited and I’m sure much laughter and many memories will be made!

Blogging will be sporadic at best for the next few weeks while I enjoy my family!

I'm sharing our fire building tip today at Works for me Wednesday!

  7. I'm laughing because I have enough dryer lint to light one hundred fires.
