I usually don’t enjoy days like this. The weather affects my mood. Makes me melancholy when I don’t wish to be. I resent the intrusion and power it has over me. But today…oh, happy day! It feels like sunshine and bright blue! Why you ask? Because I got my car back!!
A few weeks ago while driving home after picking the boys up from school we were in an accident. It was a minor finder-binder (although it did $7 thousand in damage, which luckily insurance paid for). And the boys and I were not hurt. A little shook-up but nothing a trip to Sonic for an ice cream wouldn’t cure (btw have you noticed that there is a Sonic in EVERY small town in America?).
However, there was a need for a rental car while mine was being repaired. I expressed my desire for a roomy SUV, or some type of luxury vehicle by which my husband replied: Amelia (drawn-out making my name sound like a long suffering sigh) you will get what-ever compact, economy car the insurance company will pay for.
So imagine my surprise when husband pulls into the drive-way later that day with this:

Which he immediately took possession of, and I was left with our ten year old Toyota that has seen better days.
So today, after almost three weeks of coaxing, pleading, begging the Toyota to perform even the most elementary task (going up hills, over 60 M.P.H., etcetera) without whining and groaning (because quite frankly I hear enough of that from the two redheads, I don’t need to hear it from my car too) I finally got my car back!
So I will say it one more time for good measure…oh, happy day!!
What are you happy about today?
I'm sharing my good cheer with Holly over at 504 Main. She is having her very first blog hop today and I am Tickled Pink to be playing along!
Thanks for linking up! My mom used to drive a big old Ford like the rental when I was younger. It was huge! Can you believe we do not have a sonic here. My friend from Texas misses hers!
ReplyDeleteWhat makes me happy....hot coffee, happy kids, and sunshine (I am hoping for the sunshine to appear).
Well, you definitely won't have to worry about getting in another accident in that big ol' truck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog to say hello!
Yay for getting your car back! That IS a happy day! Things that make me happy are dessert, conversations on the phone with good friends, and my kids sharing a happy moment together.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
THat is a HAPPY DAY for sure. My car was in the shop for 5 days, I had a loaner...I got used to it but having my own back in my garage just rocks...it is raining here too...though the picture you painted of your weather made it sound almost yummy!
ReplyDeleteThat truck was awesome, it will be sorely missed, except at fill-up time....
